JP724 Replaces Legacy Core System with Cloud-Native Operations Platform on AWS

How a Bogotá field services company replaced its legacy operations system with a custom cloud-native platform — enabling real-time dispatch, geolocation, and 3× service capacity.

1,000+
Service calls managed per month
Increase in service intake capacity
2–4 hrs
Reduction in time-to-service per call
24/7
High availability from day one

JP724 is a Bogotá-based field services company managing 1,000+ monthly service calls on behalf of insurance clients — coordinating technicians, insurance companies, and end customers across flooring, roofing, painting, and utility repairs. Their legacy core system could not scale with demand, meet insurance-grade security requirements, or integrate with the third-party tools driving their operations. MacondoTek designed and built a custom cloud-native platform on AWS, replacing the legacy system entirely and delivering real-time dispatch, geolocation, accounting integration, and elastic infrastructure from day one.

About the Client

JP724 is a construction services company with over 15 years of experience providing maintenance, replacement, and infrastructure improvements to insurance company clients across Bogotá, Colombia. With a fleet of field technicians handling 1,000+ service calls per month — covering flooring, roofing, painting, and utility networks — JP724 required an enterprise operations platform capable of coordinating real-time dispatch, customer communication, and compliance with insurance company data standards.

The Challenge

JP724 needed to replace their legacy core system — the platform coordinating all field operations, customer communications, and service delivery for their 1,000+ monthly service calls. The replacement had to guarantee 24/7 high availability given the company’s continuous operations, and meet the strict security and data integrity requirements of their insurance company clients.

Key technical requirements included:

  • Detailed service records storing time tracking, comments, photographic evidence of repairs, and full communication histories between technicians, insurance companies, and end customers
  • Integration with Siigo, the cloud accounting platform used for all financial operations
  • Integration with Slack as the primary communication channel between the operations center and field technicians
  • Real-time geolocation of field technicians with Google Maps integration for dispatch and resource planning

The Solution

MacondoTek assessed JP724’s requirements and designed a cloud-native application on AWS that met all technical and operational needs. After an initial scoping and architecture review phase, MacondoTek designed and delivered the full platform:

  • Custom microservices application built with Python and Django
  • Amazon EC2 with Auto Scaling for high availability and dynamic response to load increases
  • Amazon RDS PostgreSQL as a managed relational database for all service data
  • Amazon S3 for document and media asset storage, including photographic repair records
  • Integration modules for Siigo, Slack, and Google Maps
  • AWS account setup, security configuration, and CI/CD pipeline via AWS CodePipeline
  • Network design with non-production and production VPCs and multi-AZ subnets for high availability

Results

The new platform transformed JP724’s operations from the first week of go-live, delivering measurable improvements across throughput, response times, and operational efficiency:

  • Multiple operation managers can now access the system simultaneously in real time, reducing service request processing time and enabling a 3× increase in service intake capacity
  • Real-time geolocation of field agents enabled better resource allocation, cutting time-to-service by 2–4 hours per call
  • Direct Siigo integration eliminated manual accounting entry and service data reconciliation, reducing management overhead significantly
  • Built-in inventory management lets operation managers track supplies in real time and respond more accurately to incoming service calls

Why MacondoTek

Built for Field Services Operations

The platform was designed around JP724's specific operational model — multi-party coordination between insurance companies, operation managers, field technicians, and end customers — with every feature serving a real workflow, not a generic template.

Real-Time Geolocation Dispatch

Google Maps integration gave operation managers live visibility into technician locations, enabling smarter resource allocation and cutting 2–4 hours off the average time-to-service per call.

Third-Party Ecosystem Integrated

Siigo for accounting, Slack for field communications, and Google Maps for geolocation were built in from the start — eliminating manual data entry, system switching, and reconciliation overhead.

Elastic, Always-On Infrastructure

EC2 Auto Scaling, multi-AZ RDS, and S3 ensure the platform handles JP724's 24/7 operational demands without downtime or performance degradation, even during peak service periods.
