JP724 Improves their operation with new cloud first implementation of their core system

...

JP724 is a construction company with over 15 years of experience in the market. it is targeted to insurance companies that offer a portfolio of services to business and end customers, including maintenance, replacement, and enhancements to their infrastructure in flooring, roofs, painting, as well as the replacement and maintenance of utility networks like water, sewage, natural gas, and communication. With over 1000 services a month and a fleet of technicians covering the metropolitan area of Bogota, Colombia.

The Challenge

JP724 is looking to replace their core system, that allows the coordination and operation of their services, the application must guaranty high availability to support the continues operation of the company 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Additionally, given the regulations of the insurance companies that are the main clients of JP724, the application must ensure the security and data integrity to protect the privacy of the end customers.

Some of the main technical requirements for the solution are:

  • Ability to store detail information about each service, including time tacking, service comments and addendums, photographic material of the repairs, as well as a detail history of all communications between the technician, the insurance company, and the end customer.
  • Integration with accounting third party system managed by cloud platform Siigo
  • Integration with Slack used as the main communication system between the operations center and the technicians on the field.
  • Geolocation of field technicians, including integration with Google Maps

MacondoTek was engaged by JP724 to provide a cloud-based solution that would meet the technical and operational requirements.

We carried out an initial assessment and provided estimates for the solution design and build, after approval of the assessment, MacondoTek, designed and implemented the solution which included:

  • Development and testing of application components based on python and Django microservices.
  • Configuration and deployment of EC2 instances in Auto-Scaling configuration to support high availability and dynamically respond to increases in application load.
  • Relational Database deployed as a managed service using AWS RDS for Postgresql.
  • Object storage of documents and media assets using AWS S3.
  • Integration modules for third party systems (Siigo, Slack, Google Maps).
  • Configuration of AWS Account, security, code pipelines.
  • Network design and configuration with non-production and production VPCs and multi-AZ subnets to enable high availability of the resources deployed.

The Benefits

By implementing the new core system, JP724 was able to streamline their operations, and enhance their customer service, some of the key benefits included:

  • Multiple operation managers can access the system in real time, reducing the time to process the service requests, as well as allowing an increase intake 3x.
  • By enabling Geolocation and allowing the operation managers to view the location of the field agents in real-time, they were able to better allocate resources and reduce the time to service by 2-4 hours per service calls.
  • Reduced management time, by integrating directly into the company accounting system, avoiding manual entry and reconsolidation of service information.
  • The system provided inventory management capabilities which allowed the operation managers to assess their current supplies and better estimate and respond to the service calls
